Teacher Joey guiding students on making cookies
Students learning what it takes to make cookies
14th April 2026
At our tuition centre, we believe that learning English goes beyond textbooks and worksheets. While building a strong foundation in writing is important, we also focus on making lessons meaningful, engaging, and memorable for our students.
Recently, Teacher Joey guided our students through instructional writing, a key skill where students learn how to write clear, step-by-step instructions. They explored how to organise their ideas, use sequencing words, and write in a way that others can easily follow.
But we didn’t stop at theory.
To bring their writing to life, students were given an exciting challenge: turn their instructional essays into action by making cookies. Using the very steps they had written, students followed their own instructions to create their cookies from scratch.
This hands-on activity allowed students to:
See the real-world purpose of their writing
Understand the importance of clarity and detail
Identify areas for improvement when instructions were unclear
Build confidence through active participation
More importantly, it transformed the classroom into an interactive and enjoyable learning space. Students were not just writing for the sake of completing an assignment—they were writing with purpose.
By combining learning with experience, we help students develop a deeper understanding of English while also nurturing their creativity and enthusiasm. Activities like these encourage students to look forward to their classes and stay motivated in their learning journey.
At our centre, we are committed to making education both effective and enjoyable—because when students are engaged, real learning happens.
Students confidently raising their hands to give ideas
3rd March 2026
At Brainwave Academy, we believe that students learn best in an environment where they feel comfortable, confident, and encouraged to participate.
In one of our recent classes, Ms. Joey was guiding students through instructional writing, where they learned how to clearly explain the process of making a cake step by step. Instead of simply listening to the teacher, the students were actively involved throughout the lesson.
They shared their own suggestions on what steps should come first, laughed together as they discussed different ideas, and confidently voiced their opinions during the activity. Most importantly, they were not afraid to ask questions whenever they were unsure.
This kind of classroom atmosphere is something we work hard to create. When students feel safe to speak up, they become more curious, more engaged, and more confident in expressing their ideas.
At Brainwave Academy, our goal is not only to teach academic skills, but also to help students develop the confidence to think, ask, and communicate clearly.
Because when students enjoy learning, they grow both in knowledge and in confidence. ✨
Jovian showing off his monster and the description of it
28th February 2026
At Brainwave Academy, we believe that learning to write should be engaging, creative, and meaningful for students.
Recently, our 11-year-old students were introduced to the basics of descriptive writing in a fun and imaginative way. Instead of starting with a traditional writing exercise, we asked them to create their own monster!
Students first imagined their monster, then drew and coloured it, thinking carefully about its appearance, features, and personality. Once their monsters were complete, they began writing a description of their unique creation.
Through this activity, students learned how to describe details clearly, such as the monster’s colour, size, abilities, and special characteristics. By connecting writing with creativity and art, students found it easier to express their ideas and build confidence in their writing.
Most importantly, the classroom was filled with laughter, excitement, and imagination. The students had an amazing time sharing their monsters and reading their descriptions to one another.
This activity is just one example of how we introduce descriptive writing in a way that sparks curiosity and encourages students to think creatively.
At Brainwave Academy, we strive to make learning interactive, enjoyable, and effective so that students develop both their skills and their love for learning. ✨
Teacher Joey coaching students from Sri KL International School on their homework
20th February 2026
We are pleased to introduce our new Day Care Service at Brainwave Academy, designed to support students after they finish school.
Many parents face the challenge of ensuring their children have a safe, structured, and productive environment while waiting for tuition classes or before being picked up. Our day care programme provides exactly that.
Students who finish school can come directly to our centre and stay in a comfortable and supervised learning environment. During this time, our teachers will guide them in completing their school homework, helping them understand difficult questions and ensuring their work is done properly.
Once their homework is completed, students can then continue into their scheduled tuition classes, making their time at the centre both productive and meaningful.
This programme allows students to:
• Complete homework with teacher guidance
• Build good study habits and discipline
• Make effective use of their time after school
• Transition smoothly into their tuition lessons
At Brainwave Academy, we believe that learning should be structured, supportive, and stress-free for both students and parents.
We look forward to supporting your child’s learning journey throughout the day. ✨
